Michelle Akins-Aumiller was a cherished member of the Integrated Health family, whose life was tragically cut short on January 6th, 2023, at our Carterville location due to domestic violence. Michelle’s warm smile, infectious laugh, and genuine kindness touched the lives of everyone around her. She was a beloved colleague and friend who brought joy and compassion to her work and the people she served. Michelle loved music and playing the piano. She also enjoyed sports activities and hunting. She cherished time spent hanging out with her family and friends. She adored her children and was a loving mother.
Her loss is a profound reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence, and we honor her memory by raising awareness and supporting efforts to end this cycle of abuse. Michelle’s light will never be forgotten, and her legacy inspires us to advocate for safety and healing for all.

What is Domestic Violence?
Domestic violence, or intimate partner violence, is a serious issue affecting people of all backgrounds. In the U.S., 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience sexual violence, physical abuse, or stalking by a partner, often leading to injury, fear, or the need for support services. While domestic violence can happen to anyone, women and racial, ethnic, and sexual minority groups are disproportionately impacted.
